Nottinghamshire’s Trading Standards Service will be running 3 electric mattress blanket safety testing events for Nottinghamshire residents on:
23rdOctober – Newark Library
24thOctober – Retford Fire Station
25thOctober – Cotgrave FuturesThe testing is free and if a blanket fails, the resident will be provided with a new blanket free of charge. To book a slot at any of the events, residents can call 0115 8044555.

To save money, consumers will be looking for the availability of cheap versions of these products or use old electric blankets. These products may not meet current safety standards or may be damaged through poor storage or age. And, in the past few years, there have been incidents within Nottinghamshire where unsafe electric blankets have been the cause of serious fires and deaths
